When it comes to painting exterior wood shutters, HeadHouse Square Custom Shutters has the full spectrum of colors available to you. If you have a specific color in mind, just give us the manufacturer and paint code number... we'll take it from there. Not sure what that specific color is that you fell in love with? No problem! Send us a sample of the color and we will use a pigment matching process to match it. We know how to handle the finer color details, such as Historic Charleston Green, with its eleven parts black and one shade of yellow, and Tricorn Black, which is pure black from all angles, with no hint of gun metal blue from the side.
After "component priming" your
shutters, we perform the very important step of preparing them so they can accept a beautiful finish. We give the primed shutters a light sanding prior to spraying on two topcoats of paint to create better paint adhesion and more uniform coverage. Its satin sheen resists the accumulation of airborne particles, which allows the shutter to look better longer.
HeadHouse Square Custom Shutters are designed for outdoor use, and our priming and paint finish is chosen for its ability to protect your shutters against those elements typically found in outdoor environments. Our exterior paints contain special chemicals that help protect against insects, mildew, and harmful UV rays. When we paint your shutters, you can expect a textured, satin finish that is beautiful to the eye, and a subtle, wood grain tactile feel. There is a texture to the exterior paint that can be seen upon close examination, but is barely noticeable from a few feet away.
And we know our shutters can't truly be lasting without a beautiful finish. The ability to repaint your shutters every so often is an important and infrequent maintenance advantage of our wood shutters. While our paint manufacturer states that the paint we use lasts for 20+ years, we conservatively estimate that you will need to repaint your shutters every seven to ten years, depending on the variables in your geographic region (e.g. climate, exposure, etc.).
This is unlike synthetic shutters finished in restricted chemicals and paints, with a paint that fades away about the same time you can be repainting wood shutters. So if you want to get a jump start on your to-do list next decade, start thinking of your next paint color.
Do you prefer the stained look of wood instead? That's no problem. We can apply two coats of a semi-transparent stain so you can see the natural grains and colors of cedar. Or choose a solid stain for a more contemporary look and feel to your shutters.
We believe that our choice to component prime, combined with factory controlled painting and staining processes in our facility, provides the best combination of protection and beauty for your shutters, and is superior in finish and longevity.
